John Martin Gatti

John M. Gatti passed away early Monday morning, October 25th, 2021 at his home that he shared with his beloved wife of 65 years, Adrienne. John was born in the Bronx NY on 6/5/1930 and is the son of Angelo and Antoinette (Tortelli) Gatti. He is predeceased by his brother Joseph Gatti and sister Francis Budetti. He is survived by his loving wife Adrienne Gatti and his children, Joseph Gatti and wife Regina Gatti, his daughter Tina (Gatti) Graham and her husband Gary Graham, his grandchildren Johnathan Gatti and fiancé Kayla Clarke, Rachel Gatti, Jill Johnson and Stacey Johnson, Jennifer (Graham) Collins and her husband Trevor Collins and Lindsey (Graham) Holmes and her husband Baxter Holmes. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Kierstin and Raylin Collotin and Austin and Joseph Murray and his nieces Joanne Sandwich and Dorothy Budetti. John had many cousins and friends that called him “Uncle John” and he felt that they were all his children. John served in the United States Marines Corps and he lived his life as one. He was a brave man, strong and fearless, especially when it came to his family. He always put others before himself and he believed in the greater good. He was as tender as he was strong, as anyone who knew him or would marvel in the way his flowers and trees and plants grew, or how birds and animals would come to him as if he had a special language with them. He was fascinated about the wonders of the universe and those things unseen by the human eye. John worked as a carpenter most of life, including building his own home for his family in Prattsville, NY. He worked for the Greene County Highway Department for 17 ½ years as a General Foreman from which he retired. He was his happiest at his home being surrounded by all those who loved him. He had many talents, painting, drawing, carving, building, planting and there was very little he couldn’t do. He passed many of these talents on to his children and grandchildren. He was a great story-teller, as friends and family could attest and he taught us all well. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend services on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Richards Funeral Home of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Inc. 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. 2021 A.M. The United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will conduct services the same day at the funeral home at 11:30 A.M.
