Leonard "Jumpy" W. Jump

Leonard “Jumpy” William Jump Born February 6, 1922, passed away peacefully, September 5, 2019, Jumpy was born to the late Frank and Margret Jump in Coxsackie where he resided his entire life. Jumpy was a graduate of Coxsackie high school in 1940, and served his country in the US Navy and was discharged in 1945 ranked as Machinist Second Class. He received the American Theater Ribbon and Pacific Theater Ribbon with 10 stars, and Phillippine Liberation Ribbon with two stars and the Victory Medal. Some may remember him as the owner of Jumpy’s Newsroom Down Street in the sixties and a driver for Mountain View Coach Bus Line. He retired from the NYS Prison Systems after 15 years. He was a past Commodore for many years and a life member of the Coxsackie Yacht Club. He was also a member of the Coxsackie American Legion for over 60 years. He was an associate member of the Selkirk Fire Company. He was a member of the Mohawk Valley Council. Jumpy was one of a kind. He would do anything for anyone. Jumpy loved playing horseshoes, listening to country music, drinking Genesee Beer, and boat rides on the Hudson River in his aluminum boat. Most of all he enjoyed mowing his lawn on his John Deere. A favorite past-time was sitting on his hill watching birds and boats go by and feeling the breeze with the love of his life Norma Jean. Predeceased by his wife Norma Jean Jump, his brother Harold jump, and sister Mabel Stevens. Survived by a sister-in-law, Ilene McPartland, a son Carl Jump and a daughter Sheila and Bucky Powell, grandchildren, Jason Jump, Jonathan and Lisa Jump, Benjamin and Jamie Jump, LTC Joel and Michelle Buffardi, Aaron Buffardi, and Athena and Martin Cyr. Great Grandchildren- Justin, Maria , Nicholas, Sophia, Jacob, Lila, Kyle, Colin, Jaxson, and Riley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and visitors on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 4-7pm at the W.C. Brady’s Sons Funeral Home Inc., 97 Mansion St., Coxsackie, NY. Graveside service with full military honors will take place on Thursday, September 12, 2019, 10am, at the Riverside Cemetery.
