Leslie Howard Robinson

Leslie Howard Robinson, age 85 years, of Athens, New York passed on March 6, 2023. Les was born on June 1, 1937 in Glendale, Ohio to Edna and Howard Robinson. The oldest of four children he was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and Covington, Kentucky where he graduated from Holmes High School in 1955. He played basketball in the Methodist church league and sang in the choir. At fifteen years old, Les qualified as a four bar sharpshooter with the National Rifle Association’s Cincinnati F.O.P. Junior Rifle Club. Les later joined the Army and was a member of the Reserves after college. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Kentucky and his Master of Arts in Teaching from Antioch College. Les was an American history teacher in Ohio and Vermont for many years. He later became an award winning real estate agent and briefly owned his own trucking company. Les received an Advanced Studies diploma from the Unity School for Religious Studies in San Francisco, California in 1994 where he met his wife. In Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Les became a minister and supervised the prayer lines at Unity Church. After retiring, Les and his wife travelled the country in their RV visiting and having adventures until settling down in Athens, New York near family where they made lifelong friends. Les was a vegetarian who made his own nut-butter and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He loved gardening, photography, singing, dancing, and a great cup of coffee. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Roger and Jerome Robinson. Les is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Lee Robinson; his sister, Jan Robinson; his three children, Edna Robinson, Thomas Robinson, and Virginia Robinson LuPone; his nieces and nephews - Sonia Gydosh, Nikki Pieper and her husband Paul, Sara Linda Amaden, her husband Chris and their children Chloe and Jonny; and his cherished grandchildren, Aidan Robinson, Claire Robinson, Orlando LuPone, Elizabeth Black, and Annabelle Black. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 12:00 P.M.to 3:00 P.M. at Richards Funeral Home of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Inc. 28 North Vernon Street, Athens, New York.
