Mark A. Lewis

Mark Anthony Lewis of Coxsackie, NY passed away on July 28, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Mark was born in Catskill, NY to Robert and Carleen (Rizzi) Lewis. Mark is a graduate of The Coxsackie-Athens High School Class of 1976. He retired in 2021 after 41 years as a chromatographer for SABIC (formerly GE Plastics). Outside of work, Mark’s passions ran deep. He was a skilled carpenter, having had his own business for a time and built many pieces of furniture for his family. His love of the outdoors was rooted in his soul. He enjoyed duck and deer hunting, fishing, and of course, going on weekend trips on his Harley. Most of all, he enjoyed sharing these moments with his family and friends. Mark is preceded in death by his father Robert and father-in-law Emery. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Suzanne Vatalaro; his two sons, Ryan James (Xiaojing [Ruby]) and Mark Emery; brother, Jeffery (Karen); mother, Carleen; mother-in-law, Jacqueline; grandson, Emery Ming; sisters-in-law, Marybeth (Colin) and Judene; brother-in-law, James (Rosemary); nieces, Noelle, Victoria (Ben), Caroline and Anna; nephews, Morgan, Ethan, Reagan and Aidan; great-nieces, Ivy, Ellie, Juniper; great-nephew, Soren; aunts, Elvira and JoAnne (Frank); his dear cousin Lynnie (John) and many other supportive cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 80 Mansion St, Coxsackie, NY 12051 on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 10:00am – 11:00am. Mass of the Christian Burial will then be celebrated at the church at 11:00am. Interment will follow at 12:00pm at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Route 385, Coxsackie, NY 12051. Mark’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to The Community Hospice for their kindness and support.
