Patricia McManus

Patricia Hope McManus, 87, of Glenmont, N.Y., formerly of Coxsackie, N.Y. and Barefoot Bay, FL, passed away on October 11, 2020 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, N.Y. Born in Troy, N.Y. on August 31, 1933, she was the daughter of the late George D. and Catherine Murphy Hope. She was a 1951 graduate of Lansingburgh High School. Pat married Thomas McManus on August 20, 1955, and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. Pat was a stenographer for NY State until her children came along, and then after they began school, she worked as a Title Searcher for the Curtis, Warren and Fori law firm in Coxsackie. Pat was a parishioner of St. Mary’s in Coxsackie where she was a member of the Rosary Society and helped with Sunday coffee hour, Vacation Bible School and other church activities. She was a superb cook and baker and hosted several large Thanksgiving gatherings with extended family. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and over the years visited her bucket list locations, including Hawaii, Ireland, New Orleans, the Grand Canyon and San Francisco. For twenty years, Pat and Tom were snowbirds, and enjoyed spending the winters in their home away from home in Barefoot Bay, FL. She had many dear friends in the Coxsackie area, and she and Tom enjoyed getting together with them for dinners and card games. Pat was also a big N.Y. Yankees fan and enjoyed trips to Yankee Stadium. She loved animals from the time she was a little girl taking in stray cats and had many pets. She loved her large, extended family and always enjoyed getting together with them. She also enjoyed gardening and decorating. Pat was always ready to lend a helping hand, such as being a bell ringer for the Salvation Army at Christmas time and helping with Girl Scout cookie distribution. She was a kind, compassionate and sincere person, with a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her devoted husband, Pat is survived by her children Mary McManus of Glenmont, NY, Thomas (Allison Smith) McManus of Athens, NY, Catherine (Keith) Henchey of East Greenbush, NY; her beloved grandchildren, Christopher (Brittany) Henchey of Brookline, NH, Kevin (Jenna) Henchey of Fairbanks, AK, and Carl (Danielle) Henchey of Farmingdale, NJ; and 5 precious great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Betty Sherwin of Mahwah, NJ and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by four of her sisters, Helen Miller, Kay Schermerhorn, Dorothy Lanoue and Shirley Ryan, as well as her niece Elizabeth Sherwin Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at The W. C. Brady’s Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, N.Y. on Monday, October 19, 2020, from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 19, 2020, at 12:00 Noon, at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Coxsackie, N.Y. Interment will follow in the family plot of The St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Coxsackie, N.Y.
