Carol A. Baker

Carol Baker, 77, of Latham passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at St. Peter’s Hospital on May 5, 2026. Born on January 5, 1949, in Albany, NY Carol was the daughter of the late Warren and Ruth (Bergman) Baker. She is predeceased by her beloved younger sisters, Patricia Baker in 2012 and Christine Kozlowski in 2021. Carol is survived by her devoted nephew, Scott (Ashley) Kozlowski and her loving niece, Mary (Richard) Varian. She was a proud and adoring great-aunt to Noah Kozlowski and Adeline Varian, who brought her endless joy. Carol dedicated many years of service working as an audit clerk for the New York State Comptroller’s Office before retiring. Carol loved attending The Big E each year and cherished her trips to Bar Harbor, Maine with her late-sister Patty. She had a special love for carousels, hot air balloons, and animals, especially Boston Terriers after welcoming her beloved Bella into her life. She found happiness in crafting and spending time with her family. A talented seamstress, Carol was especially known for her sewing and knitting skills, was the family’s go-to for sewing projects and lovingly shared her creativity through craft fairs over the years. She was kind-hearted, joyful, and wonderfully silly. Carol often joked that she was “99% angel and 1% devil,” with that mischievous 1% teaching her niece and nephew “bad” habits like shooting straw wrappers across restaurant tables. Her playful spirit and youthful heart made every moment with her memorable. Many cherished childhood memories were made during annual trips with Aunt Carol to the hot air balloon festival, adventures that will forever remain close to her family’s hearts. Above all else, Carol will be remembered for her warmth, laughter, creativity, and the unconditional love she shared with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. The family would also like to acknowledge and send heartfelt gratitude to St. Peter's Hospital ICU, 5th floor and Hospice nursing teams. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family on Tuesday May 12 from 9:30-10:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Rd in Latham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 at church at the conclusion of the visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Carol's honor to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Albany. Arrangements have been entrusted by Carol's family to the Richards & Brady's Funeral Home.
