Daniel A. Guarino December 12th, 1977-February 20th, 2026 Daniel A. Guarino, 48, of Haines Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday February 20th, 2026. Daniel, fourth and youngest child of Rocco and Patricia Guarino of Haines Falls, NY, is a lifelong resident of the Town of Hunter. Residing in the Hamlet of Haines Falls, Danny grew up attending Hunter Elementary School and then onto Hunter Tannersville Central School, graduating class of 1997. Danny was an avid snowboarder and was a member of the HTC snowboard and baseball team during his school years. Danny was also an avid skateboarder, cyclist, and anything outdoors. In his youth Danny attended and then became a counselor at Tannersville Day Camp. During his teen years, he started in the hospitality industry on our mountain top. Honing his skills in such places as PJ Larkins, The Tannersville Yacht Club and then joining his family, running their establishment, Rocky’s Restaurant & Pub on Main Street, Tannersville. In his later years he became an employee for Kaaterskill Liquors in Tannersville and continued employment there through management change until his passing. Danny, Dan the Man, The Big Ragu, was a rare soul. A man whose wants were few. Untouched by greed, ego, or ambition. He brought a smile and a laugh to everyone he encountered. He lived simply and loved loudly. He could never comprehend the world as it is and could never accept it. He was a carrier of hope and a light in the dark. Danny suffered most of his life with bipolar disorder, which was a daily fight for him. This affliction did not diminish his light, actually, it enhanced it. A credit to a man who fought so many demons and yet was able to exude love and light from his abyss. Kind and gentle, to a fault, he will be dearly missed. Daniel is predeceased by his parents Rocco and Patricia Guarino, and his brother in laws, Joseph J. Krom and Michael P. Legari. Daniel is survived by his brother Rocco L. Guarino Jr., his sisters, Theresa J. Guarino and Gina M. Guarino, his nephew Joseph R. Krom and niece Gabriella A. Legari and grandnieces and nephews Carley Krom, Riley Krom, Joseph j. Krom, Aubrianna Stanton and Ebin Swint and many cousins and relatives. Calling hours for Daniel will be held on March 14th at The Immaculate Conception Church in Haines Falls, NY. 10:00 am, 11:00 am mass to follow.
