Harriet Colvin

Harriet Colvin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away unexpectantly on December 22, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in New York, New York on October 27, 1938 (and raised in College Point, Queens, NY), Harriet was the second child to Fred and Eleanor Schultz (née Wehden) of Germany, both of whom preceded her in death. On New Year’s Eve 1954 Harriet met John, the love of her life. They married on September 14, 1957, beginning a lifelong journey of shared faith, love, and laughter. Harriet and John celebrated 59 years of marriage before John’s death on November 10, 2016. As a young woman Harriet’s main focus was being the best wife and mother, she could be. She dedicated her life to creating a happy, safe and secure home for her family, filled with I love you’s, comforting hugs, unconditional love and laughter; as well as nightly family meals followed by the occasional dance party in the living room (She couldn’t resist a good Lindy Hop with Dad if a song had a good beat!). Her three children were her pride and joy, and her most treasured accomplishment. After being a stay-at-home mom, she enjoyed a long career in the telecommunications industry where she mentored many co-workers with both professional and life advice. Harriet and John were devoted members of the Catskill Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses where they made many cherished friends. Harriet was happiest serving Jehovah and spending time with her family. She enjoyed video calls where she could spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren across the country, who all loved time with their “Aubie”. When asked to described her, her grandchildren and great grandchildren said she was fun and feisty; honest, understanding, and accepting; sarcastic, fun and witty; a spitfire, she knew everything, and was not afraid to be herself; a good listener, she brightened your day with positive and practical advice, and nothing could keep her down; I will miss her calling me “toots;” she was a goofball; sweet and generous; funny and caring. Harriet is survived by her brother Fred Schultz (Dora); her three children Patricia Glenn (Les), John Colvin (Brenda), and Janice Colvin; grandchildren Ryan Colvin (Jennifer), Justin Colvin, Shane Glenn, Jessica Colvin (Carlos), and Megan Taylor (Llayton); great-grandchildren Ellie, Miles, Charlotte, Chloe, Ivy, Everett, Parker and Addie. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by countless friends who were like family. A memorial service date this Spring honoring Harriet to be determined.
