Horace Charleston

Horace Charleston, age 62 years, of Round Top, NY, loving father, son, brother, uncle and friend to so many passed away May 30, 2023. He was born on October 29, 1960 in Albany, NY. Survivors include his mother, Geneva Charleston, his daughters Isabella, Jadelynn and Krystal Charleston and son Christopher Charleston. Horace is also survived by his two granddaughters, Khloe Russell and Tierra Chestnut, his sisters Joyce Burden, Dorene Hankins, Thelma Grimes, Pearl Legrone and Stephanie Charleston, and many nephews and nieces who he loved so much. He is also survived by his partner of 11 years, Joanne Cleary and her children, Michael and Daniella Johnson and his best friend and praying buddy, Lorraine Chestnut. Horace was predeceased by his father, Capers Charleston, his brothers Jerry and Wallace Charleston and sister, Linda Charleston. Horace loved his family and friends as well as his work family at CMH for 20 years. Horace had a very strong relationship with God and would “pray for everyone every night”. Horace was an extremely hard working man who took so much pride in his job. He loved nature and living in a home surrounded by woods and wildlife. With frequent bear sightings he was constantly grabbing Bella to help him with his phone, so he could take a quick video. Horace loved watching all sports, but would never miss his Yankees, Giants and Brooklyn Nets. Horace was a kind, loving man that had the natural ability to make anyone feel comfortable in his presence. The world will definitely be emptier without his “I choose to make my own day” attitude and his happy approach to life. Horace loved music and dancing. He would love to listen to Motown and chef up his famous breakfasts or tend to ribs all day on the grill. He loved fishing and hanging around a bonfire with friends and family. Horace had a special place in his heart for all children and a very special love for children in the foster care system. Donations will be used to help victims of abuse and neglect, the most vulnerable of New York’s children, get the advocacy and support they need.
