Lois M. Rockefeller

Lois M. Rockefeller, age 85 years, of Durham, passed away on July 4, 2019, at Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y. She was born on May 5, 1934, in Saugerties, N.Y. and is the daughter of the late Eugene and Magdalene (Wolven) Myers. During her lifetime, Lois was employed as a clerk for The Building Department for the Town of Durham. She also helped with the care of The Durham United Methodist Church. She was very family orientated and loved her community dearly. She belonged to many organizations, including The Ladies Auxiliary of The East Durham Volunteer Fire Company of which she was a life member, The Greene County Volunteer Fire Association Ladies Auxiliary, The Red Hatters, Grandmas for the Troops, The Piecemaker’s Quilting Group, and several senior groups mainly located in Greene County. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband James Rockefeller, her longtime companion Fred Heller, also her daughters Donna Metzler and Brenda Wagenbaugh and her grandson Kyle Berry. Survivors include her daughter Deborah J. Berry and her husband Kevin, her brother William Myers and his wife Beverly, two sisters Cynthia Fetty and her husband Fred, and Alice McPheeters, four granddaughters Lacey Flierl, Jessica Wagenbaugh, Jennifer Metzler-Brown and Dawn Metzler, two great grandsons Ronin and Christopher and one great granddaughter Dylan. Lois is also survived many nieces, nephews, cousins, many dear friends and neighbors. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. on Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. -4:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor James Steffens, Pastor of The Durham United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot of The Blue Mountain Cemetery, Saugerties, N.Y. Contributions in Lois’s memory may be made to any of the organizations that she belonged to and loved. Words cannot express the amount of grace that Lois always had, in many of the most difficult times that she and her family have endured over the years. She took great care and time to care for and do whatever task she was doing with full and complete perfection always. She will surely be missed by all.
