Marion I. Barbaria

Marion I. Barbaria, 94, of Leeds, NY passed away at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson, NY, on Monday, September 19, 2022, after a short illness. Marion was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Nicholas Addabbo and Margaret (Vananelli) Addabbo. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Louis Barbaria, who ironically died on the same date in 1991, and her sisters, Josephine Cuda and Gloria DellaMonica. She is survived by her three children; Louis (Donna) Barbaria, Connie Barbaria and Thomas (Terri) Barbaria. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Maria (Joe) Vacca, Suzanne (Kieth) Avant, Louis (Allyson) Barbaria, Nicholas (Kristin) Barbaria and Thomas Barbaria and eight great grandchildren; Louis Barbaria, Marcello Barbaria, Gorgio Barbaria, Brianna Vacca, Giancarlo Vacca, Joseph Vacca, Nicholas Barbaria and Briella Barbaria and two nephews; Anthony (Rosa) Cuda and Ralph (Vita) DellaMonica. Marion enjoyed line dancing with the Catskill Senior Citizens and was a Eucharistic Minister in the Roman Catholic Church. She also did volunteer work with special needs children. Marion was known for her cooking and baking skills. She was especially known for her Lasagna and Crumb Cake. Food and dessert was always available at her house. She frequently demonstrated her caring for others by making food for neighbors and friends who were ill or otherwise needed a helping hand. She also loved to dance and in her early life she supposedly tried out for the famous Radio City Rockettes, but was too short. And, Marion never turned down an offer for a glass of Chardonnay. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Richards Funeral Home of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Inc., 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. 12413, on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00P.M. Services will be held at 5:45 P.M., at the funeral home, the same day. Interment will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at Pinelawn Cemetery, 2030 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY, 11735.
