Mr. Peter F. Pascuzzi

Peter F. Pascuzzi Peter F. Pascuzzi, affectionately known as “Poppy: died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 16, 2015. Born in Athens, N.Y. on July 10, 1933, he was the son of the late Frank Pascuzzi and Louise Bonacci. Peter served his country in The U.S Army during the Korean War. After returning from the war he met his lifetime love, Rita Fabiano of Glasco. They married and built their home together on Union Street, otherwise known as “Bunker Hill” in the close knit town of Athens where many families became one family throughout the years. Many memories were made in Pete’s garage, where cars and motorcycles were repaired in Pascuzzi Repair Shop with Pete working side by side with his sons Michael and Peter and at times his daughter Alecia whom he nicknamed “Doll Baby”. Peter worked for the Railroad for 44 years, retiring from the position of Yardmaster where he acquired a second family of friends that were co-workers at the Railroad. He was a friend and mentor for so many young people beginning their careers. He was a member of the Catskill Elks, Athens VFW and Fire Department. After retiring, Peter and Rita spent their winters in Florida where they enjoyed many years with another family of friends. His loyalty and love will remain in the hearts of all that knew him. Besides his wife, he is survived by two children: Peter (Gilda) Pascuzzi, Alecia (Dean) Bilpuh, daughter in law, Robin (Chris) Schwatz, 9 grandchildren: Michael, Jeffery, Matthew, Joel , Nicole, and Peter (Alisa) Pascuzzi, Dean, Alex, and Juliet Bilpuh, 6 great-grandchildren along with his cousins, nieces nephews and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved son Michael, his brother Francis, and his sister in law, Frances Rinaldo and many more relatives. The family would like to thank Dr. Hoffert and the staff at St. Peters Hospital, especially Tan, who took exceptional care of Peter during his stay. Relatives and friends may attend calling hours from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Richards Funeral Home, 28 North Vernon Street, Athens, NY on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 21, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Coxsackie, with Rev. Fr. Paul Guido, The Celebrant.
