Obituary for Robert Scott Briody Beloved son, husband, and father, Robert Scott Briody passed away suddenly on July 29, 2022, in Minnesota at the age of 50. Scott was born in Kingston, NY, on October 5, 1971, to Robert and Leslie (Slover) Briody. He was a graduate of Saugerties High School, Hudson Valley Community College, and Union College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Alongside his wife, Scott owned and operated Innovative Test Solutions, Inc. After completing his degree at Hudson Valley Community College, Scott would move on to work for General Electric for a short while. After building many relationships with others in the industry, he moved on to working for MCL in Schenectady. As Scott could never settle for less, MCL allowed him to work unconventional hours so that he could go back to attending college. He finished his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering when his sons were 2 and 3 years old, while Susan was expecting their first and only daughter. He was a family man; his children were the light of his life. He was so very proud of them. From coaching little league baseball, to attending every gymnastics meet, to dirt bike and snowmobile riding, Scott wanted to be there for it all. He never wanted to miss a moment, and while challenging to balance his busy professional and social life with all the events in the lives of his children, he managed to do it all with grace. Soon enough, Scott and Susan Briody would go on to start a new chapter in their lives, where they founded Innovative Test Solutions. In some time, Reese would go on to graduate college and begin to work alongside Scott, where they spent a treasure trove full of time together every day. His activities and involvement are so hard to compile; he was always giving himself. In prior years, Scott was involved with the Coxsackie Sportsmen’s Club and the Town of New Baltimore. In his most recent years, he enjoyed motorcycle racing and coaching riders of all ages as his pastime. The racetrack was his second home, and many of the racers constituted a second family. He was a jack of all trades and master of all - except for golf. He had a love-hate relationship with golf. Anyone who knew him, knew that. He was always needing to buy new clubs to replace those that weren’t straight any more or left behind in trees or water. Scott was always taking things apart and putting them back together - and that never changed. It started out with his toys as a child and progressed to truck and boat motors, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, ATVs, motorcycles, appliances, the list goes on. If his wife couldn’t fix it with superglue, Scott knew what to do every single time. Scott wasn’t all business – he was no doubt equal parts humorous and mischievous. He always kept Susan on her toes. From doing things like telling the kids not to tell her when he accidentally shot a BB gun in the house, or buying something she didn't know about. He always had "surprises" for her; with a few more found out even within the days after his passing. To all of his family, he was witty and amusing – most importantly the banter to be had with him was legendary. He was the biggest kid of the house. It is impossible to measure how much his wife and children will miss him. Scott is survived by his wife of 28 years, his high school sweetheart, Susan Briody, sons Jarrett and Reese, daughter Darian, and beloved vizslas Rex, Cooper, and Bella; parents Robert and Leslie Briody; parents-in-law Walter and Betty Swanson; sister-in-law Beth Thornton; brother-in-law Ron (Lauri) Swanson; nephews Mitchell and Brett Thornton and Tyler and Christopher Swanson; dear aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, and an immeasurable amount of friends, all of whom he loved dearly. Scott was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Mary (Zates) Slover and Alfred and Lillian (Mayone) Briody and many aunts and uncles. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at The St. Mary's R.C. Church, 80 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, New York, 12051, on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. the same day at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The W.C. Brady's Sons, Inc.
