Rose M. Wood Loving, Caring and Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rose M. Wood, of Coxsackie, N.Y., age 87 years, who passed away at her home on December 1, 2023, after spending the day with her family at her side. Rose was born on May 18, 1936, in Queens, N.Y., and is the daughter of the late Fredrick and Louise (Noeth) Leonhard. Rose grew up in Queens, N.Y. and while living there she was employed as a telephone operator. After living in Queens, Rose moved to Coxsackie where she met her future husband Leonard “Skip” Wood, the couple married, and they lived in Kentucky while Skip was in the service and later returning to Coxsackie to raise their family. Rose was employed as a waitress for many years at several restaurants including Finch’s Restaurant, Reds Restaurant and also Pegasus Restaurant. She also was employed at Coxsackie Athens Central School District, as an aide and school bus for Laidlaw, until her retirement. Rose was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and devoted wife. Rose would go out of her way to help and care for anyone, and instilled that in her children as well. She loved spending time with her family. Rose is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Leonard Wood, their four children and their spouses Sharon Riley, Debbie and Steve DiPerna, Tammy Hathaway and Leonard Wood, Sr., her ten beloved grandchildren, Joseph (Megan), Joshua Riley, Melissa (Mark) Ashby, Richard (Porsche) Eng, Nicholas (Jessica) DiPerna, Ashley (Josh) Hathaway, Matthew (Gemma) Hathaway, Nicoelle and Dahkota Hathaway and Leonard Wood, Jr. She is also survived by her five cherished great grandchildren Jared Ashby, Jacob and Isabel Eng, Emma and Ella DiPerna and Jasper Riley. She is also survived by several nieces,nephews and dear friends. Besides her parents, Rose is predeceased her two sisters Dorothy Bohm and Linda Dixon, her brother Howard Leonhard and she is also predeceased by her mother in law and her father in law Josephine and Leroy Wood. Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 80 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, N.Y., 12051, on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. at the church the same day. Interment will follow in the family plot of The Riverside Cemetery, Coxsackie, NY. Arrangements for Rose are being handled by the W.C. Brady’s Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, N.Y., 12051.
