Vincent J. Valenti Funeral Home Owner and N.Y.S. Licensed Funeral Director Owner / President of Richards Ambulance Service Vincent Joseph Valenti “Vinny”, age 47 years, of Route 23 B, Leeds, N.Y. passed away on December 20, 1992, at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, N.Y., after a brief illness. Vincent was born on August 3, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, on August 3, 1945, and was the son of the late Joseph Valenti who predeceased him in 1981, and Lena (Petrella) Valenti of Rensselaer. Vincent was a graduate of Maple Hill High School of Castleton, and a graduate of Simmons College of Mortuary Science of Syracuse. He was a member of The Hudson Elks, Hudson Moose Lodge, Hudson Columbia County Sons of Italy, a member of The Columbia County Country Club and The Rainbow Country Club of Greenville, N.Y Vinny was an avid bowler in The Mount Carmel Monday night late league in Hudson. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Vincent owned and operated The Valenti & Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Hudson, N.Y., 12534, Richards Funeral Home of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Inc., 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y., and 28 North Vernon Street, Athens, N.Y., and W.C. Brady’s Sons, Inc., 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, N.Y. Vincent also was owner and President of Richards Ambulance Service located in Cairo, Catskill and Windham, N.Y. Vincent was known for his compassion and his precise expertise in each of his businesses. The people of the communities that he served loved him immensely. His stature and smile will always be remembered by all for years to come. He loved all people, especially children. Besides his mother, his is survived by his wife Lillian (Valente) Valenti of Leeds, a daughter Christina of Hudson, a son Todd Valenti of Cairo, a brother Thomas V. Valenti of Ticonderoga, two sisters Mrs. John (Joanne) DiBlasi of Albany and Lisa LaBrie of Rensselaer, his loving mother-in-law Lillian F. Valente of Leeds, N.Y., many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, employees who loved and admired him dearly, and his dear friend and business partner Richard E. Vigilo of Cairo. Relatives, friends, and employees of the funeral homes and ambulance service are invited to call at the Valenti and Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport (Hudson) on Tuesday, December 22, 1992, from 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M., and also at Richards Funeral Home of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Inc., 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y., 12413, on Wednesday, December 23, 1992, from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. The funeral cortege for Mr. Valenti will proceed from Richards Funeral Home of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Inc., 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y., on Christmas Eve morning, December 24, 1992, and Mass of the Christian Burial will follow and will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 25, 1992, at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, 157 Bridge Street, Catskill N.Y., 12414, with Rev. Fr. John Bertolicci, The Celebrant. Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum of The St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 37-36 North Jefferson Avenue, Catskill, N.Y., 12414. Arrangements are under the direction of Richards Funeral Home of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Inc., 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y., 12413, by his dear friend who was like family and business partner Richard E. Vigilo. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Vincent’s memory may be made to The Vincent J. Valenti Memorial Fund to be established at The Simmons college of Mortuary Science of Syracuse, N.Y., in care of Richards Funeral Home, P.O. Box # 383, Cairo, N.Y., 12413.
