Betty (Elizabeth A.) Rummo Betty Rummo, age 82 years, passed away on August 9, 2021, in South Cairo, New York. She left to go home to our Lord after spending time with her loving spouse Hector (Paco) Ortiz, cherished family and dear friends. She was born on November 16, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of the late George O’Leary and Margaret (James) Drews. Betty was a wife, mother, and homemaker as well as a principal partner and joint founder with her (late) husband, Frank Rummo, Jr. of Tel-A-Ply Communications, Corp, N.Y.C. Their surviving son, Donald Rummo, joined the company at a young age. He remained in the field until his recent retirement and resides in Staten Island with his wife Ann, who is newly retired (Congrats Annie) In 1990, Betty and Frank became the proprietors of the Lantern Motel in South Cairo, New York. It was family operated until its sale in 2005. They are both fondly remembered in the community, endeared by the guests that left as friends, as well as the tenants who became family. Their daughter Donna Rummo-Faulkner, husband Douglas along with their children Ryan, Rebecca, Travis (Kimberly), Noah and Tara Mariani (Ralph) as well as Bettys youngest group of great grandbabies, Olivia, Benjamin, Alexis, Hailey, Madison, Scarlett (and newest additions Michael and Bennett) remain in or are connected to the Greene County area. They are thankful for the warm words, thoughts and prayers, gestures and kind support offered at this time. Surviving daughters Coleen Vito and Susan Stekson, who are not from the local area, along with their children Leeann (Hubert, son Brandon), Kerri (Stephen, daughter Rebecca), Tara (John, sons Gabriel, Joe, Matthew), Vicki (Jr., children Sammy, Sierra, Skye, Seth), Stephanie, Danielle, and Michael blessed the family with many cherished great grandchildren. Betty was also survived by her Goddaughters Coleen (daughter Amelia) and Kristina, Paco’s sons Skip, Chris, Calvin, their wives and children, Diago, Cameron, Arianna and Alivia. A very special thank you to Dolce, Victoria, Melissa, Krista and Sonjah. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial service officiated by Pastor Victor Nelson at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 186 Main Street, Cairo, NY on Friday August 20, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. Respectfully, Betty will be laid to rest privately with her immediate family in the family plot of The Cairo Cemetery.
