Cheryl Lynn Cole

Cheryl Lynn Cole, daughter of Ruby J. Marx and William A. Marx, born in Monroe, MI on December 24, 1955 passed away peacefully on July 9, 2020 surrounded by her family. As a child Cheryl moved a lot to different areas of the country including Chicago and Rochester, until her family settled in Climax when she was a teenager. Cheryl attended Coxsackie-Athens High School where she met the love of her life, Bounce Cole. After attending Maria College with her lifelong friend Sharon Frisbee she became a Registered Nurse and then married Bounce in 1976. Shortly after, they started their family and to know Cheryl was to know that her children meant the world to her. Being a mother was incredibly rewarding but having and spending time with her grandchildren was the highlight of her life. She went on to practice nursing in many different fields. She enjoyed caring for patients and was dedicated to being a mentor to her fellow coworkers and friends. Cheryl enjoyed travelling with family to places like Disney, the OBX or any other beach, driving cross-country and Italy. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, gardening and laying by the pool. Any time spent with her grandchildren from reading books, having sleepovers, watching movies or snuggling on the couch were always times she enjoyed. Celebrating the holidays and hosting family and friends for her annual Birthday/Christmas party was always something she looked forward to. Her strength and resilience was on full display after she was suddenly diagnosed with a glioblastoma 3 years ago. Valiantly she underwent surgery, radiation and chemotherapy and entered a clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering to aid in the further eradication of this terrible disease. Tragically Cheryl survived the loss of her son, Bradley in 2013 but the family takes comfort in the fact that she no longer will feel the pain of the loss of her child and that they may finally rest in peace together. Cheryl is also predeceased by her parents Ruby Marx and William Marx, her father-in-law Walter Cole Sr. and her nephew Ehren Sherow. Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Bounce Cole, her children Erica Cole, Gregory (Nikki) Cole, Adam (Marliesse) Cole as well as her grandchildren Bryce, Piper, Payton and Josephine. She is also survived by her sister Debby Sherow, brother Bill (Heather) Marx Jr., brothers-in-law Randy Sherow, David (Coleen) Cole, Jim (Tammy) Cole, mother-in-law Rita Cole and many other family members too numerous to list. The family would like to thank all the members of the healthcare team that so selflessly delivered the best care to our mother especially Dr. David Semenoff of Albany Medical Center, Dr. Alexandra Miller at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Dr. Mihir Raval at NYOH. The family is forever grateful for their dedication to their field and compassionate care. A private celebration of life will take place at a future date.
