Mr. Fred R. Pedersen

July 1, 1925 - September 13, 2014

Fred (Bobby) Robert Pedersen, 89, of Acra, New York was born on July 1, 1925. He passed away at home September 13, 2014. Son of the late Christian and Marie Lauridsen Pedersen, he was predeceased by his brother, Christian. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Ruth (Lounsbury), sisters Doris (Elwood) Vanderbilt and Agnes Pedersen, children Christy (Tom Baldwin), John (Judy Kaufman) , Nancy (Karen Davis) and Ginger Pedersen, grand-children William Yager III, Keeley and Quinn Pedersen , great-grandson Billy Yager, and many nieces and nephews. Fred was a veteran of World War II where he served in the 1142nd Engineer Combat Group installing and maintaining telephone and telegraph systems in France, Germany and Holland. After working 35 years Fred retired from the New York Telephone Company in 1981. He had hoped to be retired as many years as he worked. He was an avid square dancer, card player, reader and handyman. He lived a full life, was a loving husband and father, and a good friend to many. He and Ruth raised their family in Glenmont, then enjoyed travelling after he retired, spending many years “snow-birding” in Harlingen, Texas. The family extends many thanks to the Columbia-Greene Hospice nurses who were so good to Fred. He requested that no service be held, and the family is standing by those wishes.
