Katherine (Kay) A. Lasher

Katherine (Kay) A. Lasher, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, age 98 years, of Coxsackie, NY, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, at The Pines of Catskill. Kay was born July 23,1925 in Catskill, NY, and is the daughter of the late Anthony Kardum and Rachel (Van Deusen) Kardum. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leo Lasher and seven siblings: Paul Kardum, Desmond Kardum, Thomas Kardum, Jean Favicchio, Helen Collesides, Elizabeth (Betty) Becker and Florence (Flo) Koch. She is survived by two siblings: Robert (Bobby) Kardum and David Kardum (Debbie) as well as her three children: Corinne Lasher, Wayne Lasher (Faith), and Perry Lasher (Susan). She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Derek Morrison (Leslie), Bryony Pfleging, Jason Lasher (Patty), Lynn Coleman (John), Leah Lasher, Jennifer Lasher (Jahnea aka Jo), Brittany Pebler, Sara Lasher, Kaylee Lasher (Leo) and 13 great grandchildren: Aidan, Taylor, Malory, and Landon Morrison, Callie, Kasey, and Caleb Pfleging, Isaac Lasher, Izabella, Gavin (Kendall), Sophie, and Tessa Coleman, and Nelle Dodig, as well as many nieces and nephews. Kay lived much of her adult life in Athens, NY, raising her children there and working in the local KeyBank branch and for the Village as Deputy Clerk. Kay lived a life of service and volunteerism. She was actively involved, often holding various Officer positions, in many local organizations including Zion Lutheran Church, Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society (Treasurer for over 30 years), American Legion Auxiliary (member for 57 years), Friends of the D.R. Evarts Library, Athens Food Pantry, and Lutheran Church Women of America. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Monday June 17 th at Zion Lutheran Church, 95 N Franklin St, Athens, NY. 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM will be a calling hour in Straley Hall, followed immediately by a service in the church. Following the services, all are invited to gather at the home of Perry & Susan Lasher, 15 Old Stonewall Road, Hannacroix, NY 12087 for food, drink, and remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay’s name may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 95 N Franklin St, Athens, NY 12015, or Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society (HALPS) PO Box 145, Athens, NY, NY, 12015.
