NICHOLAS J. PASSERO Nicholas J. Passero, 89, of Round Top, NY, passed away on November 19, 2021 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. He is survived by his children Christine Stapchuk (Mark), and Anthony Passero (Jennifer); grandchildren Tara-Marie Coyne, Suzanne (Kris) Coyne-Duncan, Amanda (Paul) Schachner, Michael (Katherine) Juliano, Gianna Coyne, and Adriana Passero; and great-grandchildren Dante Rivera Coyne-Alvarez, Daphne Schachner, Cosette Coyne, and Charleston Coyne-Duncan. He was predeceased by his loving wife Theresa, granddaughter Sarah Nicole, brothers Richard and Philip, and sisters Emily Prestigiacomo and Mary Boruch. Born on April 5, 1932 in New York City, Nicholas was employed with the NYPD, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He spent 5 years with the National Guard. In 1975, he moved to Greene County and founded Cairo Well Drillers in 1977. He was a former President of the Rotary, Italian-American Club, and was a member of the Round Top Volunteer Fire Co. He was the former Chair of the Greene County Conservative Party. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 3-7 PM at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Church Street, Cairo, NY. Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill, NY. Condolences may be made at www.richardsfuneralhomeinc.net.
