Ralph Edward Cogswell Sr.

January 29, 1942 - March 25, 2022

Ralph Edward Cogswell, Sr. age 80 years, of Cairo, N.Y. passed away on March 25, 2022, at The Albany Stratton V.A. Medical Center, Albany, N.Y. He was born on January 29, 1942, in Kingston, N.Y. and is the son of the late Earl and Mildred (Houghtaling) Cogswell. Besides his parents, Ralph is predeceased by his sister Margaret (Peggy) Vogt and his brother Burce Cogswell. Ralph proudly served his country in The United States Navy from 1959-1962. During his lifetime, he was employed at several different positions, including being a truck driver in North Branett, N.Y. He always had a desire to learn and to do different things. He was an accomplished singer and musician and has played for many occasions and places. If Ralph wasn’t entertaining family or friends at his home, he would spend his spare time reading books or enjoying one of his favorite passions - mowing lawns. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years Cheryl whom he loved with all of his heart- along with their nine children Debbie, Ralph Jr., Steven, Joseph, Earl, Danny, Terri, Tammy and Matt and his sister Shirley Johnson. He is also survived by his many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren (you would have to be an accountant to count them all !)) whom he loved dearly. Ralph would often read the Lord’s words “Go Forth and Multiply”, and he will be lovingly remembered for often quoting these words of the Lord’s - He loved his entire family dearly and cherished each and every member of his family. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. with services taking place at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow with Military Honors at at The Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, N.Y., 12871-1721, at 1:00 P.M.
