Mr. Ralph G. Lockwood

March 9, 1920 - April 10, 2017

Ralph G. Lockwood, age 97 years, a resident of Hudson, N.Y. for many years, passed away on April 10, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 9, 1920, in Yonkers, N.Y. and is the son of the late Christopher and Marie Lockwood. Ralph served his country proudly during WWII, during the Battle of The Buldge, in The U.S. Army from June 29, 1944 through April 24, 1946. He was employed at several places during his lifetime, beginning with The Fosters Refrigeration in Hudson, Olana and Claremont State Park, Lake Taconic as a foreman, Ralph is responsible for The Greenport Police obtaining their first car, and he was a Sheriff for Columbia County. His hobbies included hunting, going to the casino, taking care of his home and spending time with his family. Ralph was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Hudson, NY, a member of The Greenport Fire Department and also the V.F.W. in Hudson, N.Y. Besides his parents, Ralph is predeceased by his loving wife Jane Marie, who predeceased him on January 15, 2010, sister Marion Genrich and Jean Czaplinski, and brother Albert Lockwood. Survivors include his beloved daughters Beverly BeeBe of Hudson, and Linda Cranson of Pittsfield, sister Alice Kisselburg of Hudson, grandchildren Cory BeeBe and his wife Jessica of Florida, Michele Miller of Pittsfield and Scott Miller and his wife Paula of Pittsfield, great grandchildren Michaela Miller of Pittsfield and Alana and Amaya BeeBe both of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, NY, on Monday, April 17, 2017,from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 11:00A.M. at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Hudson, NY, with Fr. Winston Bath The Celebrant. Interment will follow with military honors in the family plot of The Nativity Cemetery, in Linlithgo, N.Y. Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
