Robert L. Story

Robert L. Story, age 87 years, of Acra, N.Y., passed away on December 28, 2021, Bob was born on the family farm on February 8, 1934, in Freehold, N.Y., and is the son of the late Lester H. and Eva M. (Armstrong) Story. Bob graduated Salutatorian from Cairo Central School. He also graduated from St. Lawrence University with a degree in business administration, followed by a career with the West Bend Corporation. Bob was an avid hunter and angler. He was a member of The Greene County Federation of Sportsman, The Cairo Fish and Game Club where he helped with Youth Fishing Derbys, Youth Pheasant Hunts and fundraising efforts for conservation. Bob was also a Mason for many years at The Rip Van Winkle Lodge # 468 (Cairo, N.Y.) - formerly Kedemah Masonic Lodge # 693 (Cairo, N.Y.) and also a long time member of The Greene County Shrine Club, and also Bob was a member of The Cairo United Methodist Church. Bob was Magnolia Manor (St. Petersburg, Florida) shuffleboard champion. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his second wife Dorothy R. (Ludecker) Story and a stepdaughter Lena LeMatty. Survivors include his sister Kathy Jurgens and family, his daughter Lynn Keidong and family, first wife Emily Story, sons Dale Story and Glen VanWie and family, stepson Fred Abruzzo, stepdaughter Mary Montague and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 P.M. The Rip Van Winkle Lodge #468 and The Greene County Shrine Club will hold services in Bob’s memory at 1:15 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Ann Morgan of The Cairo United Methodist Church and The Sandy Plains United Methodist Church at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. Interment will be at a later date in the family plot of The Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, N.Y.
