Sharon M. Hales

Sharon Marie Hales, mother and New York State Servant, age 65 years young, of Selkirk, N.Y. passed away on July 7, 2023, peacefully with her family at her side at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, N.Y. Ms. Hales was born in Catskill, New York, on January 8, 1958, and was the daughter of Marlene A. (Spreckels) Hales of Brooklyn and the late Julius R. Hales - of which Sharon and her father shared the same birthday. Sharon was raised in Athens, New York, and has been an area resident of Selkirk, New York for most of her life since. She was a graduate of the Coxsackie Athens Central High School, Class of 1976. Ms. Hales has served the State of New York at the Departments of Public Service and Social Services for twenty five years. Sharon has been a lifetime member of The Catskill American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Honeyford Unit 110. She also obtained a ‘patent pending’ for racing canoe covers from The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2005. She has immensely enjoyed being a member of The Christmas Caroling Choristers and the Department of Public Service for many years. Ms. Hales was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Athens, N.Y. Sharon’s hobbies that gave her joy were ballroom dancing, sewing and baking. Sharon’s heart and love most of all has always been with her son and three grandchildren. Besides her mother, Sharon is survived by her son Norman Jeune III and his wife Megan, and Janice Lee Jeune, mother of Sharon’s three beloved grandchildren Luke Jeune, Jack Jeune and Adeline Jeune. She is also survived by her sister Susan M. (Hales) McNaughton and her husband Jeffrey of Selkirk, two brothers Richard J. Hales and wife Cathlene of Illinois, and Carl S. Hales of Athens, nieces and nephews Shaelynn, Vanessa, JaneAnn and Philip, her great niece Isabel and great nephews twins Owen and Oliver, and Grant, her two Aunts Margie and Marie; and many loving and supportive cousins. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at The W.C. Brady’s Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, N.Y., 12051, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. The Catskill American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Honeyford Unit 110 will hold services in Sharon’s memory Thursday evening at the funeral home at 6:30 P.M. Services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the family plot of The New Athens Rural Cemetery, Athens, N.Y.
