Kathleen Rose Yost

Kathleen Rose (Rizzi) Yost passed away on March 31, 2026, in Albany, New York at age 76. She was born on March 25, 1950, in Catskill, New York to William and Jeanne (Clark) Rizzi. Kathleen had a keen intellect and an exceptional memory. She was a valedictorian of her class at SUNY New Paltz, where she studied art history. An expert gift giver, she had a rare talent for choosing just the right thing, leaving behind small treasures that spoke to her love and care. Kathleen’s romance and marriage were the stuff of fairy tales. She and Paul knew each other their whole lives and went to school together. Reconnecting as adults, they fell in love and moved back to the very street in Athens where they had grown up. They stayed together for nearly five decades, and she died in his arms. During those years together, they devoted their attention and effort into raising three happy kids, who love each other completely and are best friends. Kathleen enjoyed watching three grandsons grow, to her endless delight. Kathleen shared unbreakable bonds with her sisters and brothers, a closeness marked by loyalty, laughter, and a long history of hilarious antics only siblings can share. She adored, and was adored, by all her nephews and nieces. In her community, Kathleen was known for her many years of service at Coxsackie-Athens Central School District. She was a hard worker and a thoughtful listener who treated every student with respect and genuine curiosity. She loved reading, art museums, and the theater, and her enthusiasm for the arts inspired those around her to learn and engage. Kathleen was warm to many, and to those she held close, she was a loyal and lifelong friend. Kathleen is survived by her devoted husband, Paul Yost; her three children, Aaron, Christine, and Kyle; her daughter-in-law, Victoria (Clouthier) Yost; her siblings, Patricia Rizzi, William Rizzi, Robin Rizzi, and Jeanine Rizzi-Rote; her stepsisters, Collette Stock and Carla Manna; her stepbrother, Greg Manna; and her grandchildren, Ethan Yost, William Yost, and Harrison Yost. Kathleen was predeceased by her beloved brother, Steven; sister, Gina; and stepbrother, Vincent. Kathleen’s life was defined by love, curiosity, and generosity. She had the ability to make every person feel special, and she is deeply missed. The family invites our community to attend a public viewing at W.C. Brady’s Sons Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street in Coxsackie, New York from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6. A private burial service for the family will take place Tuesday morning.
