Robert C. Schrock

Robert C Schrock May 29,1927 – December 29, 2022 Let us remember with fondness the life and ministry of Robert C. Schrock (Bob) who passed away peacefully in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 29, 2022. He was 95 ½ years old. Robert was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 29, 1927. After serving in the Navy during WWII he graduated from Mount Union College and then went on to seminary school at Drew University. Robert was assigned his first United Methodist Church in Brewster NY in 1953. He continued his ministering in churches in Manhattan and Pound Ridge NY until retiring in 1978. He followed this with another career working at Amtrak. Robert was married to his first wife Peggy Laymon and had two children Kathryn and Robert, sadly, Peggy lost life to cancer in 1959. He became remarried to Jacqueline Clark who is of St. Croix, Virgin Islands presently and had two more children Roger (deceased 2016) and Karen. He was divorced in 1980. Robert is survived by his three biological children and 5 grandchildren. Robert moved to Cairo and was married to Jenny Vogel and they were together for 38 years until her death in 2019. Jenny has four children, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Bob (or Pa) was loved and cherished by all the immediate and extended family. Robert was active in the community and was a board member of the Community Action of Greene County for 20 years. He most generously gave of his time and talents, and truly believed in the mission of helping others. Bob moved back to Ohio in 2021 and lived in Cincinnati. He was in good physical condition and his mental state was very acute but he died from complications due to his COPD. He did not suffer in the end, and he left this earth peacefully in his sleep. Bob lived a good and honorable life. He was a man of integrity and principles with a generous heart and a giving soul. He lived to help others and all who knew him were enriched by his knowledge, wisdom and caring. A memorial gathering is planned for May 6th at Richards Funeral Home in Cairo from 10:30 AM until 11:30 A.M. A Celebration of Life will follow at Gallaghers on Main Street to share our memories and stories of our beloved Robert. Those who knew Bob and would like to join in remembering him are welcome.
